The best beginner tarot library is small and purposeful. One dependable card reference plus one book on interpretation practice will usually teach you more than ten overlapping keyword dictionaries.
Start with structure
Learn the Major Arcana, four suits, elemental associations, numbers and court-card roles.
Then learn visual interpretation
Choose material that teaches you to look at posture, direction, color, repetition and narrative rather than only memorizing fixed definitions.
Add spreads last
Complex spreads do not compensate for weak card interpretation. Build confidence with one- and three-card readings first.
